July 13 2015

So it's been a while since I had last updated. I have been a little lazy with pumping im trying to at least get 8 session in a day and one power pump. My son has been trying to learn how to crawl so he takes up most of my time.

Well so far I have been producing 1.5 to 2 oz a day 😀. I have been eating oatmeal (just quick instant kind and steel cut I still have to buy), been drinking Gatorade,  and drinking tons of water! Recently I purchased Organic Milkmaid Tea but just a tad bit of an increase. Soon I will be purchasing milk magic or milk way on Etsy by an awesome lady who makes these great pills! I heard great things about these pills so I think in about to weeks I will be purchasing.

I'll try and update next month!

Day 3

Day 3

Forgot to blog yesterday 😣. Sleep got to me after my last night session. Yesterday I was getting so sad I kept pumping but nothing was coming out I was so sad wanted to see ounces just come out but nothing would come out! Just a couple of drops. But at night I was getting more drops than usual and I was getting happy. Today I'll see how things go! Already getting more drops! A little discouraged that day one I got more milk but it might have been milk just stuck in there that I could never get out before.

So happy I'm slowly increasing!

The Beginning

Day One
So yesterday was day one of my relactation journey! Its 1:31am here so I'm just finishing up! I have been pumping and pumping!  I'm surprised my son has been cooperating with my schedule! He has been taking extra naps! So far so good! Sore nipple though but, it's worth it!

Sorry this updated wrong must have been tired lol

Preparing!

My name is Gabriela, I'm a first time mom! I'm about to start relactation! I breastfeed my son only 5 days after he was born and continued to pump for a month- due to lack of sleep, stress of not pumping a lot and not be educated about the whole breastfeeding and pumping situation, I stopped.
I still use my manual pump everyday ( only one I could get from my insurance and the one I was using the first month- due to not being educated I thought a manual would help me increase my milk supply) once a day and still get a few drops from each side.

I will be getting a used pump in style from a friend  ( she only used it twice and cleaned it very good) and once I save enough money I will be purchasing a new hospital grade pump called the Spectra S1 or S2, either will work with me even though the S1 is tempting due to being portable!

My son is almost 4 months so if anyone is starting a tad late its me! That's my son in the picture he's my everything! I'm was to start this journey for him! He has reflux and formula doesn't really help him, breast milk was just so much easier on his tummy I feel so bad that I gave him formula, so this hard journey is for him!
I'm getting everything prepared to start relactation hopefully this Sunday! I just bought fenugreek again and I'm going to buy mother's milk tea as well! As I said before I'm going to receive my friends pump in style, she used twice but, cleaned it well ( even though she cleaned it I have my own tubes, bottles and flanges! So just using the motor!). I want to also speak to a lactation consultation about relactation or speak to my doctor, but prefer a lactation consultation just because they know more about breastfeeding! I really want to try to do this without using reglan!

I had a list of what I'm going to do and hopefully this works!

  • Going to drink tons of water and eat healthy
  • Pump every hour for at least 4 or 5 days and the go to every 2 hours every day
  • Take fenugreek and mother's milk tea
  • Tons of skin to skin
  • Hopefully once I have some milk I can get my son used to the SNS by Medela - I bought this to late :\ and he hates my nipple -

If anyone else has any advice let me know! I try and latch him on every feed right now but he just hates my nipple so that won't work right now.  :(

So ready for this journey to start!

p.s. Advice would be very helpful for though who have gone through this!
